Student workers play an important role by bringing the student perspective while helping fellow students on their career journey. We love to hire students (especially first year) from all majors and backgrounds!

Annually we have 12 total student workers filling a variety of roles:

Core Roles

Career Assistant

Champion a welcoming and friendly environment for guests at the Career Center. Direct people to services, resources, and events. Schedule appointments and help review student resumes. Assist professional staff with tasks and projects.

Alumni Caller

Contact recent UMD alumni to find out what they’ve been doing since graduation. The employment or continuing education information is entered into a database that is used to compile the Graduate Follow-up Report.

Specialty Roles

Communication Student Assistant

Collaborate with the Communication Coordinator to share information about the Career Center and events on a variety of channels, including social media, email, and the website.

Multicultural Outreach Intern

Assist with planning and innovating inclusive career programming, communicate with partnering offices and student groups, serve as an ambassador for the Career Center, and work on projects as decided upon in collaboration with supervisor. Specific projects will be determined based on the interests of the selected Intern, and the needs of the office.

Intern

For students interested in pursuing a career in higher education or career counseling, an internship is designed based on the student’s interests, internship class requirements, and Career Center needs. Interns typically are unpaid and receive course credit for completing a one semester internship. Available Spring semester only.
