Welcome to our page devoted to you! We are eager to partner with our colleagues and share information that will help your students with major and career paths, internships, job search resources, graduate and professional school, and more!
The Career Development process begins with our Explore/Engage/Design Roadmap. Each section has suggestions and resources for practical action steps you can encourage students to take to embrace their own career development process.
Resources for You
Presentations - Classroom or Club Visits
We are committed to helping you incorporate career education into your work with students through classroom or student organization presentations, employer panels, and/or employer visits.
Incorporate Career Development into Your Courses & Work with Students
We are happy to consult with you on ways to incorporate career education and development into your courses or work with students. We can share ideas on possible lesson plans and assignments on topics such as: major & career exploration, resume & cover letter writing, job search & interview preparation, or any ideas you may have.
Department Meetings
We are available to attend department meetings to discuss an overview of the Career Center, data on recent graduates, employer insights & trends, career readiness, or topics tailored to your department.
Internships & Other Types of Experiences
How to gain experience is one of our most frequently asked questions and perhaps it is for you, too. Internships, co-ops, and other ways to gain experience are helpful for students to explore career paths and apply what they’ve been learning in the classroom. We’ve put together information on different types of experiences, why students would pursue those opportunities, and how to find them.
Connecting Students with Employers
Handshake is the UMN’s career network for connecting students with local, national, and international employers. Here students can find jobs, internships, events, and career resources.
If an organization contacts you to recruit UMD students – we’re here to help. We can respond to employers with instructions to post internship and job opportunities to Handshake. We can also provide employers with information and answer questions about on-campus events including career fairs, class and club presentations, info sessions, and interviewing students at UMD.
Data for Accreditation & Reporting
We have data on recent UMD graduates that can help with your accreditation and reporting needs.
If you cannot find the data you need at the resources above, please email [email protected].
