Ellen Hatfield

Career Development & Communication Specialist

Background: I develop and implement communication efforts, including print, digital, social, and website, to connect students, campus partners, and community members to the Career Center. I work with our departmental data, oversee the Post-Graduate Survey, meet with students about career-related issues, and supervise student employees. With some effort and a few detours, I found a career where I get to use my favorite parts of my formal education. I earned a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Areas of Expertise: I love helping college students connect the dots between their interests, experiences, and tangible career paths. Besides meeting with students, my specialties include communication strategy, social media, finding resources, content creation, branding, data analysis, and more.

Interests: As an extroverted introvert, I love reading, travel, photography, hiking, and being crafty. I also serve on the Library Board for the Duluth Public Library.
