Ellen Hatfield

Career Development & Communication Specialist

Background: I develop and implement communication efforts, including print, digital, social, and website, to connect students, campus partners, and community members to the Career Center. I also meet with students about career-related issues, coordinate assessment efforts, and supervise student employees. With some effort and a few detours, I found a career where I get to use my favorite parts of my formal education. I earned a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Areas of Expertise: I love helping college students connect the dots between their interests, experiences, and tangible career paths. Besides meeting with students, my specialties include communication strategy, social media, finding resources (shocker, a millennial who uses Google Search to their advantage ;)), creative problem solving, and more.

Interests: I love reading, travel, photography, hiking, and being crafty. I also serve on the Library Board for the Duluth Public Library.
